Year of Code 2026
As the year is coming to an end, I am thinking about how to continue the Year of Code Project. I want to continue working on my projects and creating things, but I may modify the expectations a little by trying to code something daily, though not every day.
Here are a few things I may want to improve or create:
- Improve the YOCA web app with better multi-year options.
- Project Management System
- Gamming Topics
- Projects that I can monetize
I will spend the month thinking more about this, but the plan will continue, and keep it interesting, so I don't burn out.
Year of Code Road Map
I want to add a Road Map to YOCA, not exactly Project Management, but more of a list of Things to Come. I kind of do that now with project tasks, clipboards, and ideas. I may need to consider how to integrate these or simply include them as part of the comprehensive Project Management system I'm developing.
Popcorn Marketplace
Create a web application that allows multiple sites to have a place to sell goods and blog about their "homestead" or farm. Focus on things like selling of products that have dates when available or hand crafted.
Sticking with the naming of "Popcorn" this will be "Popcorn Marketplace" a web shop system with more options for hand crafted, agricultural, and small batch items.
- Store Front
- Store Backend
- Time Based Inventory
- Blog
- Multi-Tenant
- Local Login
- Stripe Payments
- R2 Image Storage
- Custom Theming
Project Management System
Develop a comprehensive project management system. Project Boards and Tasks will play a significant role, with some focusing on assigning users' work, although these are less critical. I want this to be a private system, unlike YOCA, which is all public. I plan to add some of the same features, including Ideas, Clipboard, Users, Projects, and Tasks, and also include Boards with Tasks on them. Other things to consider are Issue Tracking, Feature Requests, and Data Requests, which are offered by other systems for different projects. I think it should have roles and per-user project access, allowing clients to have a login or no login, and also ensuring that developers can access specific parts of the system. I prefer making everything multi-tenant these days so that we can add that too.
Project Portfolio
We have focused a lot on how to track progress of tasks on a project, and I have put some of them as links on the nav bar. But I would like to have a place to show off more completed projects. This is because some don't have public sites, or are not sites, others just never got hosted but were good learning steps. Should have options for adding images, links, and a description. I wouldn't mind using this for projects outside of Year of Code and just list other projects in a nice place.
